Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. I love being with family at the holidays; my only complaint is that the time just goes by so quickly. There never seems to be enough time to get really caught up with those family members who are visiting from out-of-town. This year I am going to make a conscious effort to spend some quality time with each of our guests and not get so wrapped up in the hosting details. After all, those dirty dishes will still be there on Friday, right? Wish me luck!
Take a look at this amazing home for sale. Located on Jupiter Island and owned by singer Celine Dion, the home sits on 5 and one-half acres. The views are fantastic. The entire estate is being sold turn-key with almost all of its contents.
I have been enjoying reading the blog written by Emily Henderson. She is an interior designer who won HGTV’s Design Star in 2007. Her design style is really approachable and her writing style is easy going and fun to read. Check it out here.
And Happy Thanksgiving to all!
For many, Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season. We all know about Black Friday and now many stores start big sales on the Wednesday before. I like to shop local whenever I can to support local artists and artisans. Two of my favorite holiday bazaars are scheduled for this weekend.
The Evanston Art Center is hosting its 11th Winter Arts and Crafts Expo at the Evanston Art Center, 2603 Sheridan Road in Evanston. Over 100 artisans will be selling their wares beginning tonight at the Preview Party.
The Woman’s Club of Evanston is also opening its doors today for their annual Cornucopia Gift Fair, located at 1702 Chicago Avenue, Evanston.
Also, the Chicago One of a Kind Show begins December 5 . This event is held at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. You won’t be disappointed if you attend any of these events.
I also love to shop the Galleria in Evanston which features all types of handmade items from over 40 different artisans.
Let me know if you attend any of these fairs!
Entertaining for Thanksgiving? How about this video featuring 35 ways to clear out clutter?
Look at the beautiful Georgian Revival home for sale in Massachusetts. Built in 1929 and sitting on 3.64 acres which were landscaped by the talented Olmsted Brothers. The current owners recently renovated and restored the home, keeping the stunning original details including 10 fireplaces and intricate millwork. Although it doesn’t look like the homes featured in the movies made of The Great Gatsby, I am reminded of that time and that story.
I love looking at beautiful homes. I think lots of people probably do. I recently discovered that this stunning home in Texas, the Crespi/Hicks Estate has been listed for sale. Originally built is the 1930s designed by architect Maurice Fatio, it resides on a 25 acre estate. The interior was meticulously restored by the current owners and is spectacular.
Naturally, the grounds include beautiful gardens, pool and tennis court but also a vegetable garden, streams, ponds, natural meadows and a forest. I hope you enjoy looking at these photos as much as I did. This is one of a kind. I can’t believe it is Texas.
Here are some other beautiful homes…. This one is in Atlanta.
And this one in San Francisco.
On another note, I found this breathtaking photo of space from Wired. Truly amazing.
Have a great week!
